DHI was involved in the development of a Port Masterplan for the alleviation of severe sedimentation problems along the existing pier of the Port of Pulupandan, Negros.  Site location and optimisation of the relocated pier with respect to sedimentation and navigation was established through combined numerical and physical modelling.

Regional numerical models were established to simulate waves, currents and sediment transport patterns affecting the port site.  A morphological assessment was performed and a physical model established to calibrate a detailed numerical model. A variety of pier and wharf layouts were tested in a detailed model setup to select and optimise the configuration and to assess the sedimentation patterns in the vicinity of the structure.
