Hydrographic surveys are integral parts of the planning, design and
operation of harbours, navigation channels and terminals. Survey activities
aim primarily at establishing baseline information. Measurements of
waves and currents, for example, are crucial for the verification and
calibration of numerical models used for design event studies.
DHI has the relevant experience in hydrographic and geodesy surveying and
monitoring. Advanced survey equipment utilised in hydrographic surveys in
Malaysia and Singapore have included: Differential Global Positioning
systems (DGPS), Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP), echosounders,
sediment sampling equipment and processing software/hardware and data
analysis and presentation software.
